What should I expect in therapy?

Toss aside movie stereotypes of lying on a couch and talking to a therapist who mindlessly doodles. We listen to your story, map out core issues with you, and help you make sense of confusing concepts. We don’t make the decisions for you, but we empower you to make the choices you want.

Do you diagnose disorders or prescribe medication?

Currently, we do not provide psychological assessments and diagnoses for mental health conditions. We do not prescribe or sell any psychotropics or medication.

How often should I attend therapy?

We observed that it takes around 6 weekly sessions to notice changes to your mental fitness. With this in mind, we offer a discount package to help you commit and stay active in your mental fitness journey.

That said, every individual’s circumstances and needs are different. Some are content with just a few sessions, while some are dedicated to months of therapy for self-care. Discuss with your therapist

at any time to adjust the frequency of your sessions. The decision is yours to make.

How do I choose a therapist?

We understand how challenging it can be to evaluate professional compatibility based on a therapist’s profile. We've included professional and lifestyle information in our profiles to help you make a decision. Generally, the first few sessions will give you an idea of whether the therapist is a good fit for you to continue therapy with them.

How early should I arrive at my appointment?

As sessions start and end on time, we encourage clients to arrive early to avoid cutting their session short. First-timers are requested to arrive at least 10 minutes before their appointment to meet their therapist and clarify details about policies. For subsequent sessions, we find that arriving at least 5 minutes before the appointment is optimal.

What do I need to bring to the session?

Just yourself, but feel free to bring your own bottle to enjoy the complimentary beverages (don’t worry, we provide cups too). If you like to take notes, bring a pen and notebook or type using your phone. Do remember to silent your phone for uninterrupted focus during therapy.

How will I communicate with my therapist?

Therapy is conducted in-person at Cara Cara's private office suites or online via scheduled video calls. Our therapists use Telegram, Safetalk chat, and email for administrative purposes only (e.g., making appointment changes). Each therapist's contact details are listed on their profile page.

What if I don’t like my therapist?

We know that not everyone is compatible with one another, and that’s okay - normal, really. It's important that you feel safe and comfortable with your therapist. It’s perfectly appropriate to voice out your opinions to your therapist about what is working or not working for you in therapy. There’s no obligation to continue therapy with a therapist whom you feel isn’t meeting your needs. You can let your therapist know about your decision to switch to another therapist of your choice or ask for a referral.

How are you able to provide therapy at affordable rates?

The costs for therapy typically include rental of space and facilities, operations and marketing, and therapists' licensure and continuous training. We want to support our clients in getting therapy without worrying about the financial burden. This is why we operate within a co-working space, adopt a paperless approach, and continuously find ways to keep prices low for clients.

Is Cara Cara a company?

Cara Cara is not a company. Cara Cara is a collective of therapists who are working together to keep costs low so that clients can have access to affordable therapy. Each therapist enters into an independent agreement with their respective clients.
